SPP

Small Producer Symbol

SPP is a network of small organic producers from Latin America, Africa, and Asia. SPP was launched to give small producers and their values an identity within the Fair Trade movement. Fair trade had also incorporated multinational companies, private plantations, and unorganized small producers under contract. It promotes high-quality products and the values of small producers.

    SPP Certification and Registration Process

Complete the application in the DSPP system. See link: https://d-spp.org/. You can also send it to comercial.peru@controlunion.com. CU will review the information and determine whether it is possible to send you a quote.

    More information

Our sales executives will send you a quote outlining the service costs for the calendar year. With prior authorization from SPP Global, CUP may send the quote, and once approved through the DSPP system, CUP will draft the Offer. Along with the offer letter, you will find the Contract Terms. If you agree with the offer, please return a copy signed by the legal representative. Once this is done, you enter into an agreement with CU to join one of our certification programs.

    Pricing Policy

After receiving the service fee payment, CU will send you the relevant documents to complete before the audit. Meanwhile, we will begin planning your audit date.

This is the first audit for a CU certification program client. A qualified auditor will assess your operation’s compliance with program requirements. The audit may identify non-compliances (NCs) with program requirements. The auditor will inform you of these during the closing meeting and provide deadlines for resolving them.

You must submit corrections, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to resolve the NCs. This information will be reviewed by the auditor, who will determine if it is sufficient to close the NC.

Based on the audit results (reports, analysis results, operational information, etc.), a decision-maker will decide on your operation, either granting or denying certification or registration.

The client must demonstrate continued compliance with the program requirements for which they are certified or registered. This is achieved through various audits: follow-up or surveillance, recertification, scope expansion, unannounced audits, and more.

CU will inform you about the audit program applicable to your operation.

As a result of this process, CU will decide whether to maintain, expand, reduce, suspend, or withdraw the granted certification or registration.

    How you benefit?

This symbol only certifies products that, apart from complying with the SPP regulations, have a certificate recognized as an organic product. SPP prices are based on actual costs of sustainable production.

This seal is based on the principles and values of the organizations of small producers that gave rise to the creation of this distinction. SPP describes and promotes its vision not only towards the peasant organization itself, but also towards society and the economy in general. This symbol has its own regulatory framework and Sustainable Prices, which are built from the reality of small producers, with a focus on developing their capacities.
