Bird Friendly
Smithsonian Institution scientists developed BirdFriendly certification for coffee in the late 1990s to conserve habitat for migratory birds, and it has now been extended to cocoa.

BirdFriendly
About the standard
The BirdFriendly certification ensures a mix of forest cover, tree height and biodiversity that creates an ideal habitat for the development of birds and other wildlife.
Requirements
Producers who apply to the Bird Friendly program must have organic certification.
Features
This certification provides farmers with a premium for their products and, due to strict cultivation standards, the Bird Friendly program is also a critical asset in the fight against climate change.
